Jake and His BMX Bike

THE BRUISE on Jacob's right abdomen!

Jacob recently purchased a new BMX bike and helmet with his birthday money. He noticed right away that the gear was slipping on the back wheel, but continued to ride anyway. Yesterday, Brexton, our 8 year-old neighbor came to the door frantically ringing the doorbell. He explained Jake wrecked his bike a couple of blocks away and was really scraped up and couldn't ride home. I got Kent and hopped in the car. We found Jake slowly walking home at the end of the block. He was scraped on both arms and legs, but seemed ok. As I was cleaning him up, he kept saying his side was sore. I really didn't see anything except another scrape near his ribs. Then last night - THE BRUISE appeared. I was a little concerned he may have ruptured something by the size of the bruise. Thankfully, it appears to be all in his fat layer!! It's quite the shiner. Needless to say, the bike went back to Target today. Jake said he did not want another one. He is sticking to his mountain bike!
